Here is the beginning of the first concept CAD drawing.

I’m using Rhino 3.0, on a VM to conceptualize the guitar, with all of its internal components. I need to find a user friendly linux alternative, as I want all of the final CAD models to be built on a friendly app. Any suggestions?

We have yet to finalize the motherboard for this project, though we are leaning seriously in the direction of one driven by an AMD Geode.

Our main concern at this point is function, though function does not inherently pay for itself.

this site started off with a simple idea, a borrowed wp theme, and a few hours to spare.

over the coming weeks we plan on putting a little more oomph in this project.

as a refresher: the basic idea was a guitar that has the capability of recording what is played on it.

there have been many ideas on how to execute this – from taping on an mp3 player with recording capabilities, to simply buying a guitar that already has these capabilities, to making the guitar around a full force workstation with pro audio effects.

we think it is possible to leverage some of the incredibly compact, low power, and high quality computer components available on the market, to make an extremely simple and capable guitar.

body to be ash core, with ebony & holly top, back & sides

flush mound touch screen lcd/oled

tuner display built in to side of fingerboard

rough, but gets the idea across.

the back will be covered in linux distro logos, and have clear liquid sand plates to enable hardware viewing.
