Here is the beginning of the first concept CAD drawing.
I’m using Rhino 3.0, on a VM to conceptualize the guitar, with all of its internal components. I need to find a user friendly linux alternative, as I want all of the final CAD models to be built on a friendly app. Any suggestions?
We have yet to finalize the motherboard for this project, though we are leaning seriously in the direction of one driven by an AMD Geode.
Our main concern at this point is function, though function does not inherently pay for itself.

Although it may not be Linux, your competition has already marketed a product, the Alesis X Guitar.
Check e-bay and you can pick one up on Amazon.com.

Is this project still alive? If so, I have an idea: an embedded wifi chip for wireless sound transfer. Of course the performance has to be high to be able to use real-time transfering, I don’t know if that’s possible.

Is this project alive? Where can one make contact?
The website sort of sucks-a straight webpage would be better-I am willing to host it, link to it, help create/maintain it.
Another possibility for the computing guts–Trolltech’s Greenphone with Qtopia: Linux SDK + integrated hardware. Hardware has touchscreen, WiFi, bluetooth, USB, RAM/Flash, battery/charger.
I have more ideas, if only I could find where I can start participating!

There is a brlcad program (http://www.brlcad.org/). I don’t know how good it is, but being the oldest CAR app, I think it should be good enough.
